Josh Chapp is a composer for film, television, and games as well as a producer and multi-instrumentalist. He has collaborated with world-class musicians and recorded at renowned studios including the Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage, The Village Studios, and Bandrika Studios. Josh holds a Masters of Music in Screen Scoring from the University of Southern California and a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Originally from Michigan, Josh’s musical voice was first shaped by his involvement in competitive marching band, wind ensembles, and jazz bands as a saxophone player. His deep interest in live performance, unusual instrumentation combinations, sound design through experimentation, and post audio production continues to mold his current body of work. His work spans genres from intimate drama to sci-fi and horror, including the feature film On Gallows Hill and his own award-winning short film The Fisherman. Across every project, he is passionate about crafting distinctive sonic palettes through live musicians, organic textures, inventive recording techniques, and sound design built through story inspiration.

In addition to composing, Josh is an active saxophone player whose collaborative mindset and broad audio production experience have made him comfortable working closely with filmmakers, musicians, and creative teams throughout the filmmaking process. Josh also enjoys writing for competitive marching bands and contributing to Michigan-led documentaries to help him maintain his musical roots. His additional background as an aerospace engineer further solidifies his comfort level in both technical and creative workflows. Whether developing thematic material, shaping mockups, preparing sessions, or supporting recordings, he is driven by a love of storytelling and a competitive drive to create uniquely memorable music.
